We recently seen in the news about how the California Supreme Court upheld the voice of the people by upholding a ban on gay marriage. Although many people there use their First Amendment rights on their support of gay marriage, 6 justices sided with those who voted against it, but is it already law?
During the Civil War the US Congress came up with the 14 amendment. "Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." A lot of supporters of gay marriage use this in their arguments about how guy marriage is legal and ok it might be but is it right?
In September 1995, President Hinckley came out with The Family: A Proclamation To The World. In the opening paragraph it states that marriage between a man and a women is ordained by God. The scriptures also state that any other way is not of God.
I can give you many more reasons for and against, but you decided for yourself.
